In Greek mythology, Minos(/ˈmaɪnɒs/ or /ˈmaɪnəs/; Greek: Μίνως, Minōs) is a king of Crete, son of Zeus and Europa. Minoan Civilization was named after him, which developed in Crete from 3000 to 1450 BC. The capital of the Minoan Kingdom was Knossos where there was the eminent Palace of Minos, part of which is preserved even today. From architectural and artistic point of view, the Palace of Minos at Knossos is unique all around the world. The Minoan Civilization is not only one of the oldest civilizations of the world, but also one of the most brilliant. The name of Minos is involved in many legends of Greek Mythology, such as the Minotaur and the Labyrinth.
